Letter from Principal Elena Bell

Clik here to view.I am deeply honored to have been selected by Chancellor Henderson and the Local School Advisory Team to serve as the new Principal of the Peabody and Watkins Capitol Hill Cluster Schools. In the days following the announcement, I have been the recipient of an outpouring of good wishes and congratulations and I take this opportunity now to thank each of you for your warm welcome to the community.

On my visit to the district during the search process, I was inspired by the fierce sense of commitment, pride and high expectations you hold for the Peabody and Watkins stakeholders. I am fortunate to join an organization that has been ascendant under the stellar leadership of your Chancellor, Instructional Superintendent, administration, teachers, staff and students. I am mindful, too, of the challenges we face as we continue to chart an upward path for the cluster in the coming years. 

As my arrival to campus soon approaches, I have begun the process of getting to know details about the many facets of Peabody and Watkins’ academic and institutional life and its greatly revered traditions.  I have much to learn from each of you and in the opening months of my tenure, I will be eager to listen and observe in order to understand what steps we will need to take as a community to keep our future strong as we help Peabody and Watkins, as well as the Capitol Hill Cluster excel. 

Until then, enjoy the end-of-year celebrations. Thank you for your belief in my leadership and I look forward to greeting you in the months to come.
