From PTA President Vince Morris
Hi fellow parents,
If you haven't yet I hope you'll spend some time in the next few days to check the Cluster Twitter and Facebook accounts. It's really a fantastic way to keep apprised of events and activities at our school. We have a great group of parents just like you who help keep the content fresh and interesting. You can always find great photos of the teachers, other parents and of coarse students doing all sorts of Cluster things.
If you check today you'll see wonderful photos from the Classic 10K. Thanks to all who came out today and ran or volunteered or cheered.
Have a great week.
Vince Morris
President, Capitol Hill Cluster School PTA and father of Stuart-Hobson 7th-grader and 5th- and 3rd-graders at Watkins Elementary

You Did It! Thank You!!
The 36th annual Capitol Hill Classic went off without a hitch! We had record-breaking pledge raising, netting over $20,000! We had an amazing volunteer brigade with a special appearance by PTA president Vince Morris for some professional banana tossing in the early morning hours. We hosted over 3,000 runners in the 10k, 3K, and Fun Run with the help of many, many wonderful volunteers.
Thank you so much for the support from all of our sponsors, from the PTA, from school administrators, from teachers & staff, from Cluster School families, and from the greater Capitol Hill neighborhood.
There is nothing like seeing the street in front of Peabody fill up with runners on race morning, and realizing that we have actually pulled it off, with the help of so many people! Thank you to everyone who came out on race day!

Keep an eye out at the construction fence around the Hine School redevelopment for large-scale art by Peabody kindergartners. A Report from 2nd Grade
From the class newsletter: Some of the great things going on in 2nd-grade classrooms: “We’re studying Mexico and South Africa. We’ll learn about the similarities and differences to living here. In social studies, we will be looking into making a microloan through a charity called Kiva.org that funds small projects that can make a big difference to people around the world. We have begun our studies of geometry and fractions this unit. Students are really enjoying using tangram shapes to model composing and decomposing shapes like hexagons and partitioning a whole shape into smaller pieces."
Student Arrival
Just a friendly reminder that the building opens at 8:05 a.m. for students to enter the building each day for breakfast. We want to make sure all of our students are safe and supervised. Our staff is not on duty until 8:05 a.m. and we have noticed many students who arrive earlier than 8:05 go to CVS or hang out unsupervised and we want to make sure they are safe. Students should be entering through the main entrance or the D Street entrance (grades 4-5).
Panther Pride
Don’t forget to talk to your child about Panther Pride, which stands for Positive Attitude, Respect, Integrity, and Dedication to Excellence. We hand out Panther Paw tickers from students who are caught showing Panther Pride! Each week we raffle off brand new published books!
